TITLE: AFTER SCHOOL TUTOR/AIDE - NATIVE AMERICAN STUDENT SERVICES (NASS)
REPORTS TO: NASS site Certified Tutor, Tutor Coordinator and Title VI Facilitator within NASS
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age and maintain a B average; Strong
basic math and reading skills; preferred no 8th hour scheduled.
HOURS:
- 2.5 – 6 hours per week
- Monday - Thursday
- $8.00 per hour
JOB DESCRIPTION: The NASS Tutor/Aide is responsible for assisting the Certified Tutor in helping students in 1st – 8th grade with homework assignments, planning, leading, and implementing learning experiences for students either one-on-one or in small group settings under the direction of a certified teacher or the Title VI Coordinators.
Responsible for the general safety and well-being of the student(s) in their care.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in organizing and leading a variety of activities to promote math and reading skills.
- Identify and respond appropriately to student behavior issues.
- Communicate with parents about student’s experiences and report concerns to site Teacher
Tutor, Tutor Coordinator, or NASS Tutor Facilitator (YHS).
- Communicate with teachers to find out student needs during tutoring.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including time sheets and tutoring summary.
- Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the school such as fire,
tornado, and lock down procedures.
- Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for duties as assigned.
- Uses proper procedures for calling in sick.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little
direct supervision.
